Etiquette at Avalon Avalon is not only a resort, but also a community. As such some rules are necessary to allow us all the freedom to enjoy Avalon in a safe and non-threatening manner. In all things common sense, respect for others, and good manners apply.
Speed Limit: The speed limit on the drive approaching the Avalon office is 14 MPH. It is 7 MPH in the rest of the resort. In crowded areas such as the campgrounds or around the lodge, you should drive even slower; remember as a family resort, we often have children in the area.
Smoking: No smoking is allowed in the lodge, lodge rooms, indoor pool and most Condo's (check with the office to see which Condo Unit's allow smoking). Smoking is permitted in our Game Room or in designated outdoor area's. Please do not litter the grounds.
Behavior: Appropriate behavior is mandatory. Avalon is a family facility and behavior at all times should reflect this fact. Fighting and hooliganism will not be tolerated. The management of Avalon reserves the right to refuse admittance to anyone at any time, to expel anyone from Avalon property, and to revoke memberships. Use common sense, be respectful of others, and do nothing that needs an apology.
Intolerance: We at Avalon firmly believe that to practice discrimination and intolerance has no place in Nudism or at Avalon. We accept people as they are regardless of race, religion, marital status, nationality, or sexual preference. This policy of acceptance is fundamental to Avalon. We are inclusive and shall remain so.
Photography: Permission must be obtained from management before taking any picture. You should never be photographed against your will. If Avalon is taking promotional pictures, you will be asked permission and will have to sign a release form before any such photos are taken.
Dinning:Without pockets, carrying money is not easy. You can set up an account when you check in at the office, and then you can charge your meals, drinks etc. We request that you sign up in the office for the evening meal so we can accurately predict the number we need to cook for. Warning, lack of a waist band can lead to over eating, especially with our wonderful dinners.
Orientation: All first time visitors must watch an orientation power point presentation or have an escorted tour of the facilities at their first visit, even if accompanying a member.
Attire: Nudity is encouraged when weather and health permit. Avalon is a clothing optional resort, which means that if there is a member of your family who is not comfortable getting undressed, we will be patient with them. However, nudity is required in the pools, hot tubs, and sauna. At the dances or otherwise, you may wear anything, preferably a shirt or pareo, or nothing. Lingerie or sexually provocative clothing is highly discouraged. Management reserves the right to ask members or guests to either alter their attire or remove themselves from the premises.
Towels: If nude, sit on your own towel no matter where you are. This is a policy throughout the nudist community and is mandatory. If you forget a towel, they can be purchased in the office.
Children: A parent or guardian must accompany children under 18 years of age, within the fenced area surrounding the pools, lodge, and front lawn. This is in accordance with the West Virginia liquor licensing and Environmental Health Department regulations and requirements. Also, according to West Virginia law, no one under 21 is allowed in the Nudsino. Parents or guardians are responsible for the actions of their children. Please remember that there are NO lifeguards provided. Please watch your children and do not rely on others.
Pets: If you are bringing a pet, please register them at the office, as there is special information there for your pet. Pets must be on a leash, and restricted to your campsite, designated room, designated pet area, or dog walk. Please walk your dogs in the designated areas and clean up after them. There is a dog run under the powerlines. Pets need to be polite, quiet, and not annoy anyone. This refers to all types of pets regardless of species. Pets are not permitted in either pool enclosure, bathhouses, showers or restaurant. Service dogs are of course are excepted.
Personal Music: At all times, personal music should be for your ears only and not audible to others. Please use headphones when in public.
Firearms: Firearms, or any projectile weapons, are strictly prohibited on Avalon property.
Quiet Hours: Quiet hours are to be observed from 11 P.M. to 8 A.M., Sunday through Thursday. Friday, Saturday and Federal holidays they start at 1 A.M. and end at 9 A.M. Help us keep our natural serenity and relaxing atmosphere. Be especially cognizant of noise around the hot tub, the lodge hallway, or your campsite after hours. Respect your fellow members and guests.
Liquor: You may drink your own beer, wine, or liquor in your condo or campsite only. Please do not bring your private stock into the fenced area which includes the lodge, lodge rooms, dining room, patio, front lawn, indoor or outdoor pool as this places us in violation of the West Virginia ABC laws. A parent or guardian must accompany children under 18 years of age, within the fenced area surrounding the pools, lodge, and front lawn. You may purchase beer in unopened containers at the bar for removal to your condo or campsite, but they must be carried unopened. Yes, they do visit and check us unannounced!
Drugs: Use or possession of illegal drugs on Avalon property is expressly forbidden. We have a zero tolerance policy and violators will be ejected from Avalon immediately and not allowed to return.
Liability: Members and guests use the grounds and facilities at their own risk; thereby releasing from liability Avalon, management, staff and owners. Use common sense and avoid endangering your own or other's safety.
Fire Safety: Obey all fire safety rules. Avoid starting fires when the fire danger is listed as high or very high. Contain all fires. Have equipment ready to fight fires. All fires must be completely extinguished when left unattended. Be extremely cautious especially in the woods and during drought conditions. Be aware of windy conditions and do not start fires in such conditions.
Fireworks: Fireworks of any form are prohibited. Aside from the personal safety issue, the forest surrounding Avalon is often in a very dry state greatly increasing the danger of fireworks use.
Solicitation: Solicitation or any activity, which breaks the serenity and relaxation of the guests, is prohibited.
Wild Flowers and Plants: Avalon is blessed with many wild flowers and plant species in our fields and woods. Please leave them so that others may enjoy them in their natural beauty as well. In some cases picking them may mean that they do not return next year. Do look, enjoy, and leave them for the next traveler.
